Welcome to the Study.com AI Assistant!
Ever stared at a tricky concept at 11 p.m. and wished you had a study buddy who never sleeps? This innovative assistant can assist you in reaching your goals and improving your experience on Study.com at any time time of day or night. But there are a few things you should know.
What is the AI Assistant?
The AI Assistant is an Artificial Intelligence-powered feature that helps students and teachers on Study.com. The assistant was trained on a wide range of information and responds to your actions and inputs based on patterns and training data. It does this by leveraging machine learning algorithms as well as Large Language Models (LLM) to process and produce natural language text and make recommendations.
But we are not robots at Study.com!
We’re real people, like you, and we’ve been working for decades to make education accessible with the help of technology. Some of us have Ph.Ds and are using learning science to train the AI Assistant about how to be most effective. Others of us struggled a lot in school, but now use computer science to deliver the cutting edge AI technology we wish we had back then. All of us work together to make the AI Assistant, and everything else on Study.com, the best we can for you.
Appropriate Use of the Study.com AI Assistant
The Study.com AI Assistant is a tool designed to assist users on Study.com. It is not a substitute for direct interaction with your teachers, peers, or academic advisors. The
assistant should be used as a resource to help clarify concepts, provide study tips, and guide your learning or teaching process.
For example, you can:
· ask the assistant to explain a tricky term you saw in a lesson today
· get a deeper explanation of an answer to a practice question
· ask for extra examples of a new concept
· ask about how two different concepts relate to each other
While our Study.com AI Assistant is designed to help with student queries and teacher activities, it is essential to understand that the information provided by the AI Assistant should not be used for critical decisions without further confirmation. The AI assistant should not be used for personal, sensitive, or confidential information sharing. Also, pair the assistant’s quick explanations with your own notes or study.com materials for best results as the AI Assistant may occasionally produce incorrect results.
Recognizing LLM Limitations
As we are in the early stages of this feature, the Study.com AI Assistant may occasionally make mistakes or misunderstand your queries. This is because it is trained on data that may contain biases or errors, and because language is a complex and dynamic system. Sometimes, the context of a conversation or text is not clear, which can lead to misunderstandings or misinterpretations by the language model. Finally, the assistant can sometimes generate incorrect or misleading information, often due to the complexity of the question or the data it was trained on.
Feedback and Improvement
Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve the Study.com AI Assistant. If you discover any mistakes or issues, we encourage you to report them. There is both the opportunity in the chat feature to Report an Error in detail, as well as give quicker feedback with thumbs up and down. Your input will be instrumental in helping us refine and improve this feature.
We're excited to have you on this journey as we explore the capabilities of AI in transforming the Study.com experience. Remember, the Study.com AI Assistant is a tool designed to supplement, not replace, traditional academic resources. By using it responsibly and providing us with feedback, together we can make this a more valuable asset for all students and teachers.
